Starfleet had ventured Into Darkness when Admiral Marcus, head of the organization, reached into the archives and deep into space to retrieve the Botany Bay. His only mission was to revive the great warrior and conqueror, Khan Noonien Singh, to do his bidding. He went so far as to awaken the leader of the Augments and alter his appearance so no one would recognize him. Because, after all, there was no way he could be the only student of history in all of Starfleet? Everyone should recognize the face that would lead them to victory against the Klingons in a war that hadn’t even started – that face would be that of Marcus, though, not Khan. He was simply supposed to be a cog in the wheel.
Giving Khan a new name and a new role – Commander Harrison, one of the lead weapons developers of Section 31 – Marcus had set the wheels in motion for something he thought would bring them out of the Dark Age and into the future. A new weapons-class ship, the USS Vengeance was being built behind Jupiter and Khan was going to outfit it. With the seventy-two torpedoes he had promised. One to signify every member of his family Marcus had taken away from him. At least, that was what Marcus assumed the number signified. Why else seventy-two?
Little did he know that Khan had stolen them back. That they were the torpedoes.
Khan came from a time long past. He was one of several Augmented humans, built to be better than the regular populous. The Eugenics Wars broke out as he rose to power, grabbing up much of the world and saving the culture, preserving history. He was tolerant of others, letting people speak and worship how they wanted. But he had to pack up his family of Augments into a sleeper vessel and disappear from Earth, hoping for one day they could return and live in peace among humans again. Live in the shadows, no one knowing of their various abilities.
But he was stolen by Marcus and awoken into a world on the brink of war. A war the good admiral wanted to start himself. The Klingons were naturally a very distasteful people, but they had no beef with Starfleet. None, at least, until Marcus made it his business to start messing in the Neutral Zone – an area of space off-limits to violence. Only peaceful negotiations could occur there. But what Marcus set in motion he could not even see the outcome of.
For this subplot, there will be no sign-up list. It will be a site-wide plot, as it impacts all characters onboard the Enterprise and many of those on Earth as well. Instead, there will be announcements at the top of the site just below the header as well as via PM when things are happening that impact all characters, an example being the enterprise being shot out of warp in Into Darkness.
Whenever a thread is started that involves this subplot, please post a link to is so it can be added to the list below.
